Richard “Slim” Midkiff, age 70, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Midkiff, son of Oscar and Martha Midkiff, was born on September 11, 1936, in Avoca, Nebraska. He married Leona Elaine Perigen on December 3, 1985. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2007. Richard was a veteran of the US Army and worked in the Trucking industry for over 30 years. He moved to Golden from Blue Eye in 1999. Richard was known by his friends as “Slim Pickens.” He was a volunteer dispatcher for the Eagle Rock, Mano, Golden Fire Department. “Slim” was also known for playing the guitar with his friends at jam sessions around the Eagle Rock area. He also loved fishing, woodworking, his family, and was a good father, grandfather, and husband.
Survivors include two sons, Ed Midkiff and his wife Julie, of Springfield, Missouri, and Alan Midkiff and his wife Holly, of Pella, Iowa; three step-sons, Brent Haworth and his wife Marti, of Crane, Missouri, Kent Haworth and his wife Piper, of Purdy, Missouri, Dale Haworth and his wife Jessica, of Monett, Missouri; two step-daughters Vivian McClelland and her husband Roger, of Lampe, Missouri, and Ella Harris and her husband Keith, of Aurora, Missouri; step-grandchildren include Jessica Haworth, Bo Haworth, Jack Haworth, Josh Haworth, Samantha Haworth, Zane Haworth, Alex Haworth, Andrew Wilson and his wife Allison, Erica Burns, Sue Carlile and her husband Danny, Jerame Woods, Russ Mullins and his wife Sandy, Michelle Utesca, Paul Utesca, and Michael Utesca; step-great-grand children, Preston Wilson, Kaylee Wilson, Rachel Hedrick, Matthew Hedrick, Sophia Mullins, and Bobby Carlile. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Terry Lynn Midkiff and Sherrie Ann Midkiff.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri with Reverand Woodrow E. Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at the Viney Creek Cemetery in Golden, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 24th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
