Betty
Banks
Nov 22, 1942 — Aug 23, 2023
Cassville
Betty J. Banks, age 80, passed away at her home in Cassville, Missouri, on August 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. Daughter of Buddie Ernest and Mildred Irene (Henry) Hendrix, Betty was born November 22, 1942, at home in Washburn. She was a 1960 graduate of Southwest High School. She married James Banks on September 30, 1961, in Exeter; he survives. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2021.
Retiring after 25 years at FASCO, Betty and her husband James owned and operated PStarr's Place in Exeter from 1997-2000. They then worked for the Corps of Engineers for 14 years as campground hosts, where Betty's friendly, outgoing personality led to longtime friendships across the country.
Betty was very close to her daughters, and her grandchildren were a source of great happiness. Sunday dinners at her house were very special, and her family loved taking turns choosing their favorite meals. Betty was also a talented quilter, and her quilts are a legacy her family will forever cherish.
In addition to husband James, survivors include two daughters, Anita Lowe and her husband Tim, and Tammy Rowden, all of Cassville; four grandchildren, Peighton Miekley and her husband Ross, Austin Johnson, Trey Rowden, and Riley Rowden; one sister, Sue Popanz and her husband Jim of Rogers, Arkansas; three brothers, Ralph Hendrix and his wife Irene, Larry Hendrix, and Gary Hendrix and his wife Carrie, all of Washburn; three sisters-in-low, Olene Hendrix, Liz Hendrix, and Barb Hendrix; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Kenneth Hendrix, Robert Hendrix, Clifton Hendrix, Howard Hendrix, and Ernest Hendrix.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at White Funeral Home in Cassville. Interment will take place in Washburn Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Haven of the Ozarks and entrusted to the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
