Obituary

Carroll Ruth Killins Ashford, 91, passed away on Sunday evening, December 20, 2020. She was a resident of Village on the Park assisted living facility's memory care unit in Rogers AR. Although regular visits were severely limited of late with the onset of Covid 19 she was always on the lookout for her daughter Julie Baird and Julie's daughter Alisha Price who visited her most often. She was not always sure who was visiting but she greeted all with an infectious smile and a welcome. She was an ace domino player till the end. Through her stay in assisted living she rarely lost track of or failed to recognize Julie.  Julie and Alisha were the last family members to be with her before she gave in to complications from the virus.

Carroll was born July 19, 1929 to Frank and Ruth Killins of Shattuck, OK.  She was the youngest of three children and grew up idolizing her older brothers Frank Eugene Killins and Charles Richard Killins. She graduated from Shattuck High School in 1946 and married Glen Richard Hall of Gage, OK in 1948. They moved from Shattuck to Wichita, KS where their first son, Richard Eugene Hall was born in 1949 followed by Robert Michael Hall in 1952 and Julie Hall in 1954.

Carroll is preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother and her husbands, Glenn Richard Hall and George (Jack) Marion Ashford and her daughter in law Cindy Hall. Following Jack's death in 2011 she moved to Shell Knob MO to live with daughter Julie and be close to two of her three children, three of her five grandchildren, three of her five great grandchildren and her two of her four great great grandchildren, all of whom survive her. Survivors include  Rick and Lee Hall of Norman OK, their daughter Sarah and husband Cameron Brewer and their children Nora and Houghton; and their daughter Nora Ann Hall; Robert Michael Hall and daughter Andrea Moussavi and her husband Perry, son Grant Hall and wife Brandi and their daughter Lauren and her husband, Skyler Ceola and son Luke; Julie and Brad Baird and their daughter Alisha and husband Mike Price and their children Kelsey and her son Braxton and daughter Braylee and sons Caden and Logan Price; and their daughter Lindsay Baird.

The focus of her life was always family.  She found herself a single mom after 17 years of marriage to her first husband forcing her to remake her life developing a career as a dental assistant in Wichita KS. She provided for her children through their junior high and high school years giving them all she had and all she earned without complaint and teaching them about generosity even when in need.  Carroll was an expert craftswoman/seamstress who made and mended clothes, made and sold doll clothes, made dolls and teddy bears and crocheted scarves and lap blankets - some to sell - but most to give away. She was also a great cook but used that talent to make candy so friends and relatives as well as teachers, postmen, the bread man, milk man and other delivery folks received gifts during the holidays. She was resourceful and creative and passed those skills and lessons on to her children and grandchildren.

Hers was a life well lived, often difficult but rich and full and generous.  Hers was an attitude of strength and ability even and especially in the face of real life challenge; hers was a spirit of love and gratitude for the family she sacrificed for and worked to feed.  We are, each one, grateful and will miss our mom and Grami.  We are also relieved that she is released from the ravages of her declining health.  She is now set free for a new adventure.

A celebration of her life is planned for summer 2021 in Shattuck OK.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
