Obituary

Chloe Gibbons, 92, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 16, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Elmore and Neva (Ford) Kassel. Chloe married John E. Gibbons on May 27, 1978, in Shell Knob, Missouri. John preceded her in death.

Chloe was a member of Central Community Methodist Church in Shell Knob. Known by many as "The Energizer Bunny," Chloe lived life with remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and a love for staying active and involved in her community.

She was a retired school teacher and a former resort owner. Chloe's adventurous spirit led her to participate in many solar car races across America, and she was always ready for the next adventure whether riding a jet ski on the lake or sharing the beauty of the area as a Branson tour guide.

Chloe was also deeply involved in community events. She helped handle the fish at the Homer Sloan Bass Tournament, danced with the Table Rockettes line dancers, and worked the boat shows for the Shell Knob Chamber for many years. Even in her later years, Chloe continued to stay busy and active, still cleaning at a local resort.

Chloe will be remembered for her boundless energy, her adventurous spirit, and her dedication to her community. Her motto seemed to be simple: "Keep moving!" And that's exactly how she lived her life.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the joy of knowing her

Chloe is survived by three sons, Dirk Dietz and his wife Janice of O'Fallon, Missouri, Drew Dietz and his wife Melinda of Jackson, Missouri, and Drake Dietz and his wife Denise of Bloomington, Minnesota; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Jean Lange of Jackson, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Gibbons; her parents; and one brother EW Kassel.
