Clyde Ray Thomas, age 83, of Paragould, Arkansas, formerly of Butterfield, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 18, 2018, in his sleep. Mr. Thomas, son of Ellis Lee Thomas and Essie Rebecca (Loper) Thomas, was born on November 3, 1935, in Hinton, Oklahoma. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country proudly for four years. On September 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda House; she preceded him in death on July 9, 2016. He retired from La Z Boy Manufacturing where he invented one of their key quality control procedures still used today. Mr. Thomas loved being on his farm in Butterfield, going to yard sales, auctions and junk shops. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he enjoyed every minute he could spend with them. Mr. Thomas will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew him; he had a quick smile and an easy going manner. He was a member of Gunter Methodist Church in Butterfield.
Survivors include his daughter, Tracy Poole and her husband Tom; two grandsons, Alan and Ryan Poole; one beloved granddaughter, Rachel Poole, all of Paragould, Arkansas; two brothers Robert Thomas and his wife Laberta and Kenneth Thomas and his wife Helen, two sisters Mary Ging and Essie Lumpkin, all of Oklahoma; his brother in-law, Ken House and his wife Carol, of Cassville; his sister-in-law, Pat Allison and her husband Floyd, of Cassville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Todd Thomas and Bobby Thomas; two grandchildren, Matthew Stillings and Mary Elizabeth Stillings; three brothers, Homer Thomas, Edward Thomas, and Theodore Thomas; and one sister, Pearl Thomas McDowell.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Gunter Methodist Church in Butterfield, with Pastor Mike Tharp and Pastor Jerry Nickle officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
