David Newton
Cowherd
Jul 19, 1948 — Mar 19, 2020
God always leads us to where we need to be, not where we want to be. David Newton Cowherd, age 71, of Cassville, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Mr. Cowherd, son of Bill and Montez (Sapp) Cowherd, was born on July 19, 1948, in Cassville. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1966 and subsequently was united in marriage to Connie Weathers on September 27, 1968. David was a well-known electrician working for Tucker Electric for close to forty years and made many lasting friendships throughout the years working there. He will be most remembered by his warm contagious smile, giving others a hard time, and helping others in need. David enjoyed working, gardening, and spending time with his family.
David gave his life to the Lord at the age of twenty-one and was proud to tell everyone that he met of all His wondrous work; he was a member of the Butterfield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Connie Cowherd, of Cassville; two daughters, Angela Cowherd, Exeter, and Jennifer Hinds, of Cassville; three grandchildren, T.J. Frieze, Jewell Frieze, and Clay Frieze; two brothers, Rex Cowherd and his wife Jan, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Jim Cowherd, of Springfield; one sister, Kay Cowherd, of Springfield; two brothers in-law, Tim Weathers, of Kansas City, and Jim Weathers, of Cassville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by one sister, Vella Dean Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, with Pastor Dave Eaton officiating; burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or The Gideons International and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
