Obituary

David Lee Draper, age 75, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Mr. Draper, son of James and Thelma ( Venator ) Draper, was born on June 22, 1943, in Ottumwa, Iowa. On January 22, 1961, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a Sergeant and was discharged on January 22, 1964. He was united in marriage to Vera L. Weston on September 7, 1988, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Draper owned and operated Dave Draper Designs in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was well known for his quality work. His thirty eight years in upholstering furniture included worked in two governor's mansions.

Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Eagle Rock in October 2005; he was always willing to give a helping hand by volunteering and helping others in need. Mr. Draper was a member of the All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock.

Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Vera Weston-Draper, of Eagle Rock; three step-daughters, Kimberly Halverson, of Bloomsfield, Iowa, Yancette Halverson, of Portland, Oregon, and Jill Fair, of Marysville, California; three sisters, Sandra Findley, of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Diana Chavez, of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Cindy Colby, of Whitehall, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Draper, Clyde "C.J." Draper, and Herbert Draper; and two sisters, Mary Cooper and Martha Potter.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock, with the Reverend George Whitney officiating.  Cremation arrangements to follow.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Private family burial will be held at Beaver Cemetery in Seligman at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Cancer Resources and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
