Obituary

Doris Jean Hayes, age 85, of Butterfield, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Peachtree Manor in Cassville. Mrs. Hayes, daughter of Clarence and Mable (Thomas) Moore, was born on October 11, 1934, in Wheelerville. On February 14, 1989, she was united in marriage to Carrol Hayes; he preceded her in death on January 5, 2020. Doris worked several jobs in the area, including Empire Gas and Propane in Wheaton and in Cassville.

Doris enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband Carroll and also volunteered at the Barry County Museum where she had her life story published. She loved to collect teddy bears, hummingbird figurines, and was an avid reader. Doris had a huge heart and enjoyed helping others; she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was brought up in the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include her son, Wesley Drake and his wife Cherie, of Deberry, Texas; four step-sons, Marty Wolf, of Butterfield, Michael Hayes, of Los Lunas, New Mexico, James Hayes, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ron Hayes, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her special daughter, Brenda Russell, of Cassville; her special son, Dennis Wilbanks, of Shell Knob; eleven grandchildren; three special grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two special great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three brothers, Fredrick Moore, of Cassville, and Kenneth Moore, of Butterfield.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Drake; and three brothers, Danny Moore, Richard Moore, and Larry Moore.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Clio Cemetery in Jenkins.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Barry County Museum and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
