Dovie June (Corn) Mathis, age 89, of Butterfield, Missouri, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Mathis was born on June 30, 1931, in Morris, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jess and Lillie (Horn) Corn. On May 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Francis "Hank" Mathis in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Dovie spent her childhood in Oklahoma, and then moved to Seligman, Missouri, where she received her education and graduated in 1947. After she and Hank married, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She had been employed as a bank teller and worked for Sunshine Bakery. Dovie spent most of her life as a homemaker and a caregiver to her children and grandchildren. In 1980, Dovie and her family moved back to Barry County, Missouri to retire. She enjoyed gardening, going to flea markets and garage sales, and spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her loving husband, Hank Mathis, of Butterfield; two sons, Charles Mathis and Darrell Mathis and his wife Missy; all of Butterfield; two daughters, Tomi Roberts, of Butterfield, and Lisa Parsons and her husband Jeff, of Monett; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny Corn and his wife JoAnn, of Seligman; and three sisters, Vella Jean Hall, of Washburn, Doris Eggleston, of Seligman, and Elsie Hignite and her husband Frank, of Rogers, Arkansas.
In addition to her parents, Dovie was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Rumford; four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, in Cassville, with Pastor Jack Betts officiating, with burial to follow at the Seligman City Cemetery.
Friends may view and sign the guest book at the funeral home on Monday, October 26 th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 27 th from 8:30 a.m. until service time.
At the suggestion of the family, face covering are requested.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
