Francis Charles (Hank) Mathis, 97, of Butterfield, Missouri passed away May 28, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 22, 1927, in Lincoln, Arkansas, the son of Ernest (Hap) and Laura (Greene) Mathis. He was united in marriage to Dovie (Corn) Mathis on May 3, 1948. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2020.
"Hank", as known by most people, received his education throughout Jenkins, MO and Cassville, MO areas, graduating High School at Seligman, MO in 1947. He moved to Kansas City,Kansas where he worked for General Motors, worked in carpentry, farmed, and then made his career as a foreman for Gas Service Company. Upon retiring from the Gas Company, he moved his family back home to Barry County Missouri.
Hank was always a jokester and didn't mind flirting with the ladies. He loved singing and playing music, bird hunting and fishing, and was very involved in sports. He was known to have quite an arm on him when pitching fast-pitch softball. He touched many young lives while coaching his children and grandchildren in Little League baseball and basketball. After retiring, he loved going to garage sales and flea markets. He spent a lot of time tinkering and fixing up all of his bargains and newly found treasures.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Mathis and Darrell Mathis, both of Butterfield, MO, two daughters, Tomi Roberts of Butterfield, MO and Lisa Parsons and her husband Jeff of Monett, MO, five grandchildren, Jake Roberts, Tim Roberts, Elizabeth Roberts-Smith, Matthew Lawrence, and Ashleigh Nelson, eight great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Frances June Rumford, two brothers and three sisters.
