Gene Leroy Armstrong, Sr., age 76, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Armstrong, son of Ed and Alberta (Brown) Armstrong, was born on January 11, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ginger Allison; she preceded him in death on February 22, 2014. Mr. Armstrong enjoyed tinkering in his garage, mowing his lawn, and eating his favorite food, cole slaw. He and his son Brian were very close and spent a lot of time together making memories and enjoying each other's company.

Survivors include three sons, Gene Armstrong, Jr. and his wife Terri, Joseph Armstrong, Brian Armstrong and his wife Cindy, all of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Shannon Armstrong, of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Anthony Armstrong and Eddie Lee Armstrong, both of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Dixie Richards, of Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Armstrong.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
