Obituary

Heather Lakey, age 38, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Heather, daughter of Frederick and Karla (Schell) Lakey, was born on February 16, 1979, in Rogers, Arkansas. She was a 1997 Rogers High School graduate where she received many scholarships for her abilities on the track field, and acquired the state record for the farthest distance in shot put on May 1, 1997. Heather enjoyed fishing and being with family and friends; she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her mother, Karla Lakey, of Washburn; two sisters, Stacey Lakey, of Washburn and Amanda Martinez, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and her nieces and nephews who she adored and helped raise as her own, Brittany Johnson, Nick Pirri, Eric Pirri, Marcus Lakey, Allison Serrano, Matthew Serrano, Cruz Marquez, Lucas Lakey, Liliana Mosqueda, and Carly Martinez.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Lakey and her sister, Angel Lakey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Washburn, with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
