James "Jim" Neal Brasel, aged 93, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. Born July 05, 1931, in Centreville, Illinois, to Jessy and Jenny (Armstrong) Brasel. On August 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janice R. Brasel in Peoria, Illinois.
Jim consistently engaged in community service within his local areas, contributing through a variety of volunteer roles. Notably, he organized Coats for Kids fundraisers for two consecutive winters. In 2022, he set a record by raising $8,000, far surpassing Springfield's $2,000. His outstanding efforts earned him the Knight of the Year award in 2022.
For 19 years, Jim managed over 21 offices and numerous employees for the construction equipment manufacturer, Caterpillar. In the early 1950's, Jim served in the U.S Marines in Korea. Jim's finance career spanned an impressive total of 50 years, including his significant role as a bank president for 26 of those years. Throughout this time, he navigated the complexities of the financial world with skill and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and stability that profoundly impacted his community and colleagues.
Survivors include four sons, Michael James Brasel and his wife Sheryl, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, Greggory Scott Brasel and his wife Lisa, of Auburn, Washington, Jeffery Stuart Brasel and his wife Vicki, of Roselle, Illinois, and Christopher Raymond Brasel and his wife Kendra, of Cassville, Missouri; two daughters, Tonya Lynn Dominguez and her husband Joseph, of Marengo, Illinois, and Kimberly Demming, of Niles, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Janice and their infant daughter Tamara who passed away in 1961.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
For visitation, please join the family at White Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, from 5 to 7 pm.
Mass Services will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Friday, June 13, 2025, to begin at 11:00am.
Arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
