Johnny Corn, age 88, passed away in his home on August 2, 2024, surrounded by his family. Johnny, son of Jess and Lillie (Horn) Corn, was born on September 12, 1935, in Morris, Oklahoma. He was a man of great faith and had been saved and baptized at an early age; he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seligman. Johnny was a graduate of Seligman High School. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran having been stationed in Spain as a mechanic during the Vietnam era. He married Jo Ann Lundy on March 27, 1963, in Cassville; she survives. Johnny served as Mayor of Seligman for 10 years, served on the City Counsil, was also on the cemetery board, and worked for the City of Seligman. In 1969 Johnny graduated from Oklahoma State Tech in TV repair. Johnny and Jo loved to travel together. Johnny was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed fishing and being near his cows, but his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren, and they all thought he was an amazing grandad.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three sons, Richard D. Corn, of Afton, Oklahoma, Robert "Little Bob" Corn, of Grove, Oklahoma, and Ron Corn and his wife, Angie, of Seligman; two sisters, Elsie Mae Hignite, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Doris Eggleston, of Cassville; six grandchildren, LaCosta Elliot, Lacey Ennes, Michaela Corn, Joshua Corn, Alycea Patterson, and McKenzie Brophy and her husband Geoffery; ten great-grandchildren, Presley Elliot, Maddie Elliot, Annlee Ennes, Karson Corn, Brooklyn Corn, Rowyn Brophy, Ridgelyn Clark, Riverlynn Brophy, Noah Patterson, and Lainey Corn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Wanda; four brothers, Ellis Corn, L.B. Corn, Eugene "Spud" Corn, and Bill Corn; three sisters, Vella Jean Hall, Dovie Mathis, and Jo Ann McCool; and one infant son, Randell Corn.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the White Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville with Pastor Brent Ferguson officiating; burial will be at Seligman City Cemetery with Air Force military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
