Joseph Franklin
Dias
Jul 28, 1983 — Mar 20, 2026
Shell Knob
Joseph "Joe" Dias, age 42, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away at his home on March 20, 2026. Joe was born on July 28, 1983, in Visalia, California to Kenny and Valerie (Harris) Dias.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy, completing a full four-year term of service. He was a person people naturally gravitated toward, with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Joe would do anything for anyone, even giving the shirt off his back to someone in need. He never met a stranger, and it seemed no matter who he crossed paths with, by the end of the conversation they would walk away smiling or still laughing. Joe had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome and at ease, whether he was sharing a laugh or showing up in his signature pirate hat and kilt.
Joe was, without question, one of the biggest goofballs you could ever meet, and his ability to bring laughter and joy wherever he went was one of his greatest gifts. His larger-than-life spirit and unforgettable sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joe had a special passion for cooking, especially grilling. He became well known among his family and friends for his "special" seasonings and recipes, along with his willingness to grill just about anything. Gathering around the grill with Joe was more than just a meal, it was an experience filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will be cherished forever.
He will be deeply missed by his family, including his sister, Melissa Dias; his brothers, Frank Dias and Lukas Harris; his nieces and nephew, Kloey Dias, Harper Olbertz, and Ethan Dias; some very special friends, T.J. Gureski, Nicki and Gregor Moore and Jamie Whisman; along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny Dias and Valerie Harris; and his grandparents, Ed and Billie House.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Painters Cemetery in Shell Knob, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #4155 in Shell Knob, Missouri.
