Obituary

Joseph "Joe" William McAllister, age 67, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. Mr. McAllister, son of Ralph and Hazel (Neel) McAllister, was born on August 19, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Oakview, a small village nearby. Joe was baptized at the Englewood Baptist Church in Kansas City. He was a 1971 Oak Park High School graduate and subsequently enrolled in University of Missouri where he obtained his degree in Forestry graduating in 1976. While in college, Joe worked for the Kansas City, Missouri, Forestry Department during the summer. Joe owned and operated his own business doing forestry management and tree stand improvement; Joe loved the outdoors and could identify any tree.

Joe was a remarkable athlete, especially in baseball. He started playing at the young age of eight in Little League, playing with the American Legion League, and continued his passion all the way through high school. Joe lived his life enjoying his eighty acres in southern Missouri. He loved his family dearly, was a friend to many, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his three brothers, Ed McAllister, of Hannibal, Mike McAllister and his wife Patricia, of Kansas City North, and Kenton McAllister, of Columbia; two sisters, Rita Scarlett, of Berryville, Arkansas, and Zenda Hauck, of Washburn; one niece, Kelly McAllister, of Tama, Iowa; and one nephew, Jeff McAllister, of Gladstone, Missouri.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff from Mercy Hospitals in Cassville and in Rogers, Arkansas, and the Cassville Healthcare and Rehab, who had cared for Joe since last October.

The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the White Funeral Home and Crematory in Cassville, on Saturday, June 5, 2021, prior to graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Hickman Cemetery in Washburn, with Pastor Glenn Erwin officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joe to the Mark Twain National Forest and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
