Joyce Edith (Haselwood) Guyer (christened Edith Joyce Haselwood) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in hospice at Springfield, Missouri. She had lived in Aurora, Marionville and Monett Missouri to be near family after her husband John had passed away in Parson KS. Joyce had met her future husband, John R. Guyer, as a student at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

Joyce was born October 17, 1928, to Ferd N. and Edith M. Haselwood near her family's farm in Glasco, Kansas. She was the youngest of eight children and remained close to them over her life. Favorite memories of her sons were visits to her many siblings and cousins.

Joyce, husband John and their young children moved many times during his career with International Harvester (Alva OK, Fredonia KS, Augusta KS, Wichita KS, Dallas TX, Roswell NM, Parsons KS). She was happy when they settled in Parsons, Kansas, as John became the manager of the International Harvester store in Parsons. Joyce and John (with their sons) lived in Parsons from 1964 until her husband passed in 2013. They developed many strong friendships and ties to the community in Parsons.

She was a homemaker as her children grew to become teenagers and then began a career as a substitute teacher and later a teller and then loan officer for the First National Bank in Parsons Kansas.

Joyce, John and sons attended the First United Methodist Church in Parsons KS and other Methodist churches as she and the family moved to new homes. She was a dedicated member of the choir and greatly enjoyed singing. Whenever she heard a familiar hymn, she was ready to join in. Later she attended the Presbyterian Church in Parsons and continued to sing in their choir and to participate in church activities.

She is survived by her sons Ken Guyer (Lily), Doug Guyer, Curt Guyer (Sandy) and granddaughter Tiffany (Guyer) Haynes (husband Christopher) and their children (Rowen, Liam, Ezra, Finley and Lucy), and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held privately by the family
