Judy
Shore
Mar 3, 1940 — Aug 24, 2022
Shell Knob
Judith Kay (Gibbs) Shore, 82, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in her home after losing her battle with cancer. Judy was born on March 3, 1940, in Delta, Colorado to Ansel and Lota (Herd) Gibbs. She was raised in the Delta, CO area through high school. After graduating high school, she attended Blair Business College in Colorado Springs. Her life then led her to Ralls, Texas, where she attended Texas Tech and began raising two daughters. She returned to Delta for a short time, then moved to Grand Junction, CO, where she met the love of her life. They were united in marriage on May 19, 1967, blending their two young families. They then added 2 more children to expand the family to 8.
Judy was heavily involved in the community and school. On weekends, she would pack the family for trips to Rifle Gap Lake for boating and camping. In 1974, they moved to Naturita, CO where they lived on a small family farm growing food and raising livestock. Giving back to the community, specifically starting the Lioness Club, led to the beginning of multiple years of exchange students in their home, as well as providing the opportunity for youth in the community to travel abroad, including their own children. She also led fundraising to develop the local town park.
The pull of the lake and Missouri resulted in the move to Shell Knob, MO in 1979 where she spent the remaining years of her life. Her passion for community led to her founding and leading the Lioness Club in Shell Knob. After starting the exchange student program, it expanded to co-chairing the Southwest Missouri program, bringing 50-60 teens from foreign countries into the area. During tax season she worked in Don's accounting office, taking on the needed administrative duties. They converted part of their home and opened it to others via a bed and breakfast, where they met lifelong friends. Judy loved spending time with her friends and was passionate about her relationship with God. As an avid learner of the scripture, she found her church family at Lohmer Full Gospel Church. She was invested in and spoke fondly about the various members and what was happening in their lives. She both touched their lives and they touched hers.
Her greatest pride was in the effort and result of blending and raising her family. Ensuring each child was prepared and developed ethics, love of family, deep loyalty, support of one another, and a breadth of life skills was an important passion for Judy. Pride in children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was always spoken about and created abundant, cherished memories for her. The doors of their home were always open to extended family traveling into the area or to young people who just needed a home for a while. No one was a stranger to her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald Shore, and her parents Ansel and Lota Gibbs.
Judy is survived by her brother Chuck Gibbs (Rosie), her children Donald Shore Jr. (Kristi), Billie Fienhage (Mike), Connie Tinsley (Jeff), Sherri Boston, Jeff Shore, and Wade Shore (Angela), 16 grandchildren Jordan (Justin), Dane (Melissa), Jason, Amber, Corey, Taylor, Jeremy (Chelsea), Jesse (Lori), Morgan (Trevor), Allen, Hope, Carson, Carly, Kristie (Jeff), Aaron (Shelby), Savannah, 13 great grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3rd at the Lohmer Full Gospel Church in Shell Knob, Missouri.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
