Obituary

Julia Katherine "Judy" Homesley, age 87, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Roaring River Health and Rehab Center in Cassville. Judy, daughter of Howard and Joyce (English) East, was born on December 31, 1936, in Dallas, Texas. She and her family moved to Barry County when Judy was in the eighth grade; subsequently, she graduated from Cassville High School in 1955 and was Class President her senior year. Judy was always the main organizer of the class reunions until her health no longer permitted her to do so. She was the bookkeeper at Blalock's Motors in Cassville for several years before she left to be a full-time homemaker. She was a life-long Girl Scout and served as Neighborhood service Chairman for many years. Judy married James Homesley on May 7, 1957, in Cassville, MO. He passed away on March 3, 1998. Judy loved to shop with friends and eat at her favorite restaurants in Springfield and Rogers. Judy was a long-time member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cassville where she served as the congregation's pianist and bookkeeper for many years. Judy loved her rescue cats and dogs throughout the years and faithfully fed her birds year-round.

Judy has lived at the Roaring River Health and Rehab Center in Cassville for the last six years and the family is very appreciative of the care she received; she was also cared for by Three Rivers Hospice.

Survivors include her daughter Julia Camille Wittenhagen and her husband Craig, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and her granddaughter, Julia Camryn Browning and her boyfriend, Michael Lisenbery, of Moore, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Linda Porterfield and her husband Rex, of Springfield; and several dear friends including Sue Craig, Dee Lewis, Patty Duncan, Billie Pohl, and Regina Pry. She and her classmates have remained steadfast friends all these years and she loved all the notes, visits and phone calls while she lived at Roaring River Health and Rehab Center
