Obituary

Lanny Ross Aldridge, age 88, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Son of Samuel Ellis and Gertie Elizabeth (Smith) Aldridge, Lanny was born on August 19, 1934, in Monett, Missouri. On April 3, 1955, he was united in holy matrimony to Frances Lorene Haworth; she preceded him in death on March 17, 1998. He married Ruth Owens, and she passed away on January 25, 2019.

Following graduating from Monett High School in 1952, he worked at Moss' Market in Monett. Following that he worked at Armour's in Monett. He and his brother owned and operated Lucky 7 Café in Monett, and Lanny later became a milk hauler. He started to work at Vaisey-Bristol and Jumping Jacks in Cassville, and continued with the company when it relocated to Monett; he then returned to Cassville to work at Justin Boots. He was a Sheriff's Special Deputy during Vernon Still's administration and a member of the Barry County Sheriff's Posse. Lanny loved the outdoors, whether he was working in his garden, or hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Benny Aldridge and his wife Rachel, and Denny Aldridge, and one daughter, Lora Terry and her husband Dale, all of Purdy; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one brother, J.H. Aldridge, of Monett; two sisters, Juanita Gold and Louella Calton, both of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wives and parents, Lanny was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Ray Aldridge, four brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Gunter Methodist Church, east of Purdy, Missouri, with Pastor Mike Tharp and Pastor Jerry Nickle officiating. Burial will follow at Gunter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4 th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home & Crematory, in Cassville, Missouri.

Memorial contributions in honor of Lanny may be made to the Gunter Cemetery and entrusted to White Funeral Home & Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
