Lawrence "Larry" Caddell, age 91, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away at his home on Monday, January 15, 2018. Mr. Caddell, son of Earl and Esther (Forste) Caddell, was born on December 24, 1926, in Jasper, Missouri. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Merchant Marines as a supply sergeant and was on the Hiroshima Military Government Team. On January 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Alberta Landis in Stilwell, Kansas. Mr. Caddell worked for Yellow Freight as a driver for twenty years, and subsequently owned and operated Caddell Tours for ten years. He was a loving man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Caddell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Bert Caddell, of Shell Knob; three sons, Terry Caddell, Jerry Caddell and his wife Becky, all of Shell Knob, and Barry Caddell and his wife Becky, of Peculiar; one daughter, Sheri Brooks and her husband Ray, of Perry, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Sharon Caddell, of Shell Knob; eight grandchildren, Scott Caddell, Daniel Caddell, Jessi Hunsucker, Sara Caddell, Ryan Caddell, Fred Caddell, Joe Brooks, and Willie Brooks; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Caddell, of Kansas City; two sisters, Betty McCain, of Raytown, and Connie Preston, of Holden; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Caddell; and one brother, Murl Caddell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob, with Pastor Bob Gaddis officiating; full military honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post #2203 with Commander James D. (Dave) Atkinson. Burial to follow at Mikeman Cemetery in Shell Knob.
