Linda Roll- The Early Years
Linda was born in Wichita, Kansas on December 2, 1943, at St Francis Hospital. At that time, her mother and older two brothers, Don and Gary lived in the 1100 block of North St. Francis in Wichita, KS. From there they moved to a home on South Vine Street where they lived for 2 years. Her mother met her stepfather were married a short time later and they moved again. And shortly thereafter another brother, Dean arrived. The next move was to a new home at in Northeast Wichita. Linda was enrolled at Isley school with her older two brothers. Brothers Joe and Richard were born during the time they lived there. Some years later they moved to Haysville during the summer of 1953 when Linda was 10 years old. Her sister Janice was born the first year they lived in Haysville. In 1956 when they moved again in Haysville Linda, Don and Gary rode the school bus to Wichita to attend Jr. High school and high school. Linda attended Truesdell Jr. high her 9th grade and then West High later transferring to South High which opened in 1959, for her junior year. I began college at that time at Wichita University. Linda then met Don Roll and they were married in the home of Pastor Kenny Bolton, in Haysville in 1960.

Don and Linda met through Linda's brother Don and Don's cousin Carolyn who were dating /going together, Linda and Don made it two couples. They dated until Don asked for Linda's hand before he entered the USAF March 1959, and left for Lackland, Texas, Don's first duty station was Charleston, South Carolina and came back on leave June 1960, when they decided to marry June 14, 1960. Rev. Kenneth Boltin performed the ceremony with brothers Gary and Don Martin along with Carolyn all in the attendance at the ceremony. Linda then went to Charleston in August 1960. Then, Don got orders for Thule Greenland from October 1960 to October 1961. After, Don was then stationed at McConnell AFB Wichita until released January 1962.
Places lived.
Don and Linda lived in Wellington, Wichita, Colwich, El Dorado, Texas and Oklahoma, wherever jobs took them. Linda always accepted the moves. In El Dorado, she worked at Butler County Community College and while there, obtained her GED - which her husband and family were so proud of.
They then moved to Verona, Missouri, retired in 2011 where Linda loved working in garden and yard. She enjoyed life until dementia started 3 years ago. This year in July she got sick and was in hospital 6 days, from there went to Ozark Manor August 3 until she passed away September 15.
Children/Grandchildren
Donald and Linda Roll have two children; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
