Lorena Fern Wells, age 87, of Monett, Missouri, formerly of Ridgely, passed away on January 4, 2021. Mrs. Wells, daughter of Charley and Charlotte (Hampton) Hand, was born on June 27, 1933, in Douthat, Oklahoma. On May 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to Garland Thorestine (Teeny) Wells in Ridgley where they spent their honeymoon days in the strawberry patch. They were married for 52 years 7 months and 23 days until Teeny's passing on January 29, 2002. Lorena spent many years volunteering her time at the Monett Senior Center by helping out any way she could and by putting a smile on the residents faces. She loved to play cards such as Pitch and Pinochle and would never let anyone or anything get in the way of a good card game. Lorena also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Ridgley Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles Lee Roy Wells and his wife Shirley, of Ridgley; two daughters, Gail Denise Smith and her husband Billy, of Miller, and Garla Anne Parsons and her husband Mike, of Purdy; eleven grandchildren, Clinton Wells, Christopher Wells, Carla Peterson, Casey Ball, Clifton Wells, Denny Aldridge, Jr., Gail Groves, Lance Parsons, Derek Parsons, Kendra Salas, and Abby Parsons; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorena was preceded in death by one son, Terry Dale Wells; and one brother, Kenneth Hand.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Rocky Comfort Cemetery, with Pastor Donnie Spears officiating.
