Obituary

Marvin Ross Shockley, age 77, of Wheaton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. Mr. Shockley, son of Bert and Maude (Lee) Shockley, was born on February 17, 1942, in Bethlehem, Missouri. He was a 1960 Exeter High School graduate. On June 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Browning and to this union three sons and one daughter were born. On December 15, 1989, he was united to Vicky Taylor. Marvin owned and operated a very successful business with his son Robert, Shockley Drywall for over 50 years. Marvin's high quality craftsmanship and exceptional level of detail set his name apart and was known as the best in the drywall industry.

Marvin was a simple man that loved the simple country life. He enjoyed brown beans and cornbread, country and gospel music, hunting, fishing, camping, always had a joke to tell, loved a good poker hand, a slot machine that is hitting, and loved raising his fighting chickens. Marvin thoroughly enjoyed two stepping, as he was smooth on his feet while looking sharp in his starched jeans, black vest, Stetson hat and cowboy boots. He was a great friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Shockley and his wife Leta, Michael Shockley, all of Washburn, and Wes Shockley and his wife Janyse, of Cassville; one daughter, Marva Shockley and her partner Mylynda, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his significant other, Vicky Shockley, of Wheaton; two step-sons, Todd Taylor, of Wheaton, and Jesse Taylor and his wife Katie, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one step-daughter, JoVon Real and her husband Steve, of Bentonville, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Ragland, of Cassville.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
