Obituary

Maye Lucille Tilford, age 78, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Daughter of Edward and Sarah (Chaney) Vanderpool, Maye was born, as one of triplets, on September 5, 1944, in Cassville. A 1962 graduate of Cassville High School, Maye would go on to marry Howard Tilford; he preceded her in death on September 2, 2018. Maye retired from Able 2, after more than four decades of faithful employment.

Maye was a born again Christian and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she attended with her family, always enjoying a big family dinner following Sunday services. Her beloved dog, Sugar, was a great source of joy and comfort in her life. Maye had such a kind and generous heart she treated everyone like family. Maye enjoyed many activities like sewing quilts, feeding and watching the hummingbirds, and hunting. Maye was a dear woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two children, Robert Tilford and his wife Kimberly, of Cassville, Monica Jennings and her husband Bill, of Washburn; ten grandchildren; Stephanie, Cory, Tiffany, Robbie, Logan, Jacob, James, Isabelle, Elijah, Roxanne; four great-grandchildren, Vincent, Veronica, Athena, Logan; four sisters, Martha Thompson, of Cassville, Mary Shuey, of Glenville, North Carolina, Edna Burkiett, of Fairview, Illinois, and Sue Moore, of Jenkins; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edward and Sarah Vanderpool, Maye was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Tilford.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at White Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville, with Pastor Kevin Hilton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
