Monty F. Woods, age 77, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 5, 2022.  Mr. Woods, son of Sherman and Clara (Ashlock) Woods, was born on January 22, 1945, in Greeley, Colorado.  In 1971, Monty was united in marriage to Janice Swanson at the First Baptist Church in Cassville and to this union three children were born.  In 1996 Monty then married Carol Smith; she preceded him in death on December 16, 2020.

Monty loved the outdoors and worked several years for the US Forest Service in Cassville, but his livelihood was in cattle and horses as both a cattleman and a rancher. Monty was never one to sit still and always had to be busy doing something, although he never missed a chance to catch a nap.  He loved his family dearly, never met a stranger, and was a friend to so many.

Survivors include one son, Matt Woods, of Cassville; two daughters, Melanie Woods, of Stotts City, and Anna Woods, of Cassville; eight grandchildren, Wyatt, Hannah, Lexi, Dawson, Hank, Hallie Mae, Colter, and Haidyn; one great-granddaughter on the way, Arianna; two sisters, Pat Fabrizius, of Windsor, Colorado, and Becky Fortenberry and her husband Dewey, of Ault, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Monty was preceded in death by one son; one daughter; three brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the White

Funeral Home, Cassville, with Pastor Frank Smith officiating; burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Exeter FFA in memory of Monty and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
