Nina Etta Gilbert, age 94, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at Mercy hospital in Aurora, Missouri. Mrs. Gilbert, daughter of Clarence J. and Bessie Mae (Barrett) Addison, was born on October 1, 1929, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. On May 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Joseph Lawrence Gilbert in Orange, Texas.
Nina was a gifted and talented artist whose work covered a variety of genres. Whether she worked with oils, watercolors, wood or glass, the beauty in her soul could be translated into any media she decided to work with. Her art has decorated and still hangs on permanent display in places of worship and private homes.
Her love for Jesus and her love for art culminated into fourteen beautiful engravings depicting the passion of Jesus Christ which hangs today in Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob, Missouri, where she and Joe were Faithful members until moving to Cassville and continuing their faithful service to God at St. Edward Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Halbach and her husband Donald, of New London, Iowa, Patsy Gilbert, and Peggy Bushart and her husband James, all of Cassville; six grandchildren Jenny, Joseph, Robert and his wife Emma, Meg and her husband Scott, Sarah, and Grace; four great-grandchildren, Ruby, Zoey, Aidan, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband of 73 years Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers Joe Addison, Connie Addison, Leroy Addison, Lloyd Addison, and Arnold Addison; three sisters Verna White, Bessie Fussell, and Mabel Grace Addison.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16th at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville, Missouri, Rosary and visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16th at the church.
Memorials can be made to St. Edward Catholic Church, PO Box 492, Cassville, MO 65625 or entrusted to White Funeral Home and Crematory.
