Roy "R.J." Timmons, age 88, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away at his home on Friday, September 24, 2021.  Mr. Timmons, son Roy and Bertha (Edie) Timmons, was born on July 14, 1933, in Cassville.  Subsequent to graduating high school, R.J. enlisted in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, serving during the Korean Conflict. On October 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Betty Williams; she preceded him in death on December 4, 2012.  R.J. was a well-known face in the community from working several years as a bus driver for the Exeter school district and later at the United States Post Office in Exeter for twenty-five years, making many lasting friendships.  Some of his favorite past times were camping, fishing, and enjoying breakfast at C and C Country Store in Exeter; he loved to sit out in the front yard in his lawn chair watching the world go by.  R.J. was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Exeter where he served as a deacon since 1967.

Survivors include two daughters, Janette Steward and her husband Jim, and Janice Barton, all of Exeter; four grandchildren, Michael Steward, Tasha Corter, Rebecca Barton, and Ashley Lowe; four great-grandchildren, Hailey and Harper Lawrence and Letty and Jordan Corter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, R.J. was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Timmons, six brothers, and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, with Pastor Randy Comer officiating.
