Obituary

Scott M. Hutchinson, age 69, of Golden, MO passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 4, 2023, after an extended illness. Scott, son of James and Viola "Fay" (Christenson) Hutchinson, was born on September 5, 1953, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of five children. Scott called many places home including Oklahoma, Colorado, Ohio, Kansas, and Missouri. He had many occupations over the years including Boilermaker, Restaurant Owner, Pawn Shop Owner, Police Officer, Salesman, Cook, and Driver.

He married Mardee Schartau on September 9, 1983, in Junction City, Kansas; they were married for almost 40 years. They lived in Ogden, Kansas where they raised their three sons: Shane, Kenny & Jon. Scott was always taking the boys to do "guy things" including dirt bike/four- wheeler riding and skeet shooting. He also enjoyed boating and camping on Milford Lake at Thunderbird Marina.

Scott never met a stranger, and he had a very outgoing personality. He was always willing to help anyone any way that he could. He was famous for taking his mother-in-law and her friends to the beauty shop, coffee shop or any other place they needed to go.

It wasn't until later in life that he was given his favorite title "Grandpa". He was blessed with grand-daughters and a grandson.

Survivors include Mardee Hutchinson of the home, Brandon Jerwa, Shane Schartau (Sarah), Kenny Hutchinson, Jon Hutchinson (Kala), grandchildren Kira, Kaelynn, Sadie, Kensley, and Colby. His sisters Zola Putt and Marge Honick, several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents and parents; mother and father in-law (Marvin and Dorothy Schartau); brother James (Jr), sister Pat, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins on both sides of the family.

Scott did not want a funeral service so to honor his wishes we will have a "Celebration of Life" at our home in Golden, MO on October 14th beginning at 4pm. Please stop by to share your favorite stories.
