Stephen D. Guthrie, age 78, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Roaring River Health and Rehab in Cassville, Missouri. Mr. Guthrie, son of James Kelly and Margaret (Gallaher) Guthrie, was born on May 22, 1940, in San Bernardino, California. On November 7, 1973, he was united in marriage to Jeanie Shelton; she preceded him in death on April 17, 2008.

Mr. Guthrie was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy of Annapolis located in Annapolis, Maryland. He was a Lieutenant Commander and served two Vietnam tours. Animals were very important to Mr. Guthrie and he also enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis A. Guthrie-Kuehn and her husband Steve, of Holiday Island, Arkansas; one step-son, Gary Shelton, of Erwin, Tennessee; two step-grandchildren, Michael Shelton and Heather Grey; two brothers, James F. Guthrie, of Austin, Texas, and William H. Guthrie, of Santa Barbara, California; one sister, Mary K. Guthrie-Ankrum, of Redlands, California; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
