Obituary

Tommy (Turtle) Evans, age 76, passed away on May 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Tommy, son of Cleo and Rosetta (Baker) Evans, was born on January 11, 1948, in Eureka, Springs, Arkansas. He married Diane Lane on September 18, 1967, in Seligman; she survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked at Preformed Line Products in Rogers, Arkansas, for 20 years; subsequently he was a mail carrier out of the Washburn Post Office for 23 years.

He was very active in his community and served in many capacities, including mayor of Seligman, school board member at Southwest R-V School District, and a Seligman volunteer fireman. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Seligman and served as a past deacon. His passions were fishing and music; he and his wife provided the music at numerous funerals.

Additional survivors include two sons, Tim Evans and his wife Terrissa, of Seligman, and David Evans and his wife Tanya, of Gateway, Arkansas, Arkansas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger Evans of Seligman, and Robert Evans of Russellville, Arkansas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25th at the First Baptist Church in Seligman, with Brent Ferguson officiating; burial will be at New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24th at the White Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville.

Pallbearers will be James Townsend, Rob Windes, Steve Jordan, Roger Kaiser, Greg Hendricks, and Carl Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Evans, Zachary Evans, Dalton Evans, Jacob Detherage, and Brandt Powell.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
