Vern Lester Eves Jr., went to heaven on March 20, 2024. He was born to Vern and Mae (Tripps) Eves in Castlewood, South Dakota, on April 12, 1942. Vern did 12 years of schooling in Castlewood, South Dakota, then joined the Navy for 20 years as a Cryptology Specialist serving in Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Spain, and the pentagon in D.C. He retired in 1982, to Shell Knob, Missouri. His later years he enjoyed gambling and traveling in his R.V. His final resting place will be at the Springfield, Missouri, Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by Judith Eves of the home; three stepsons, Ben and Paul Widhalm of Golden, Missouri, and Martin Widhalm and wife Carol of Lincoln, Nebraska; one stepdaughter, Christine Stillwell and her husband Don of Golden, Missouri; one sister, Twyla Schnek and husband Kim; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Mae Eves, two brothers, David and Ron Eves, two sisters, Audrey Kressin and Lynee Cronan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home and Crematory.
