Wallace "Bud"
Jump
Jul 30, 1922 — May 19, 2018
Wallace C. "Bud" Jump, age 95, of Purdy, Missouri, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at his home on Shoal Creek after a six and a half month term with cancer. Bud, son of Glenn and Blanche (Stahl) Jump, was born on July 30, 1922, in Hapersfield, New York.
Up until September 2017 he was a very active 95 year old who was an "avid outdoorsman." From childhood he grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York and upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years including during World War II at the age of 18. After his time served he ended up in Arizona where he established his own air conditioning and sheet metal business in Mesa for thirty-five years. He was also a founding member of the American Legion Post #39 in Gilbert, Arizona. Bud was a member for seventy years and received a certificate of lifetime membership.
He retired from his business and built a cabin in Overgaard, Arizona, in the White Mountains where he was the closest to God and nature as any man could be. He knew his Lord and Savior and loved to share of His wondrous work. Bud knew about every inch of the White Mountains plus other hunting and fishing areas in Arizona. He enjoyed teaching his grandsons and other young men and women about the land as well as hunting and fishing. He was definitely a man of nature and had a big warm heart full of love for all. Other hobbies he enjoyed were golf, playing pool and dancing.
On July 7, 1987, he was united in marriage to JoeAnn McMillen in Kauai, Hawaii. They enjoyed many happy years together having fun and making memories.
Preceding Bud in death was his parents, grandparents, his one and only brother, Leighton Jump; one son-in-law, Darrel Elzey; one step-son-in-law, Bert Nelson; and a host of great family and friends.
Survivors include his wife JoeAnn of thirty-one years; two daughters, Elaine Hills and her husband Wayne and Marlene Elzey, all of Chandler, Arizone; a step-daughter, Shellie Nelson, of Wheaton; step-son, Ed Bowman and his wife Robbin, of Seligman; grandchildren, Todd Hills and his wife Melanie, Craig Hills and his wife Trisha, Jeff Elzey and his wife Eva, Mark Elzey and his wife Lana, Jason Elzey and his wife Cynthia, and Vicki Jordan and her significant other Kristy; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Maegan, Austin, Demi, Dillion, Darrell, Jacob, Anna, Brady, Lauren, Hannah, and Olivia; step-great-grandchildren, Taylor, Breanna, Bailey, Maddie, Tyler, Trey, Brodie, Carrie Jo, Connor, Evan, Elijah, and Kanyon; great-great-grandchildren, Jack, Migual, Desirea, Cotton, Arlow, Jackson, and Mason. Bud had the privilege of knowing and loving each and every one of them.
A memorial celebration for family and friends will be held on July 28, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the home of Bud and JoeAnn.
Service arrangements and cremation are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
