Wayne "Dog" Whitmore, age 70, passed away at his home in Purdy, Missouri, on February 25, 2023. Mr. Whitmore, son of Ken and Ann (Spoor) Whitmore, was born on October 10, 1952, in Springfield, Illinois. He joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and served during the Vietnam War. He moved to Missouri in 1983, to continue his drywall and scraping business. Following his retirement, he worked with Jerry and Annie Crowe turning wood "bowls" and doing odd jobs for them; he then joined a wood turning group. He had a passion for animals, the dog mountain where he lived, and enjoyed spending time with the Southern Brotherhood.

He married Terrica Ramage on July 13, 2013; she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Danny Whitmore and Scooter Whitmore, both of Aurora; one daughter, Kiley Loren Brock, of Springfield; one stepson, Mark Jenkins and his wife Meagan, of Cassville; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Larry "Mouse" Whitmore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
